As you guys know, I posted this yesterday as a “Mid-engined Corvette” rumor. My original intentions were to just post something about the ute-based mule just to remind you how awesome it is. However, my google image search led me to this, so I did a bit of digging. Nothing substantial turned up, but based on some things, I think I’ve figured it out (just not completely). For one thing, and a glaring error on my part- Why/how would you use a sedan to disguise a mid-engine prototype? Another thing - if it were a Corvette prototype (a Chevrolet model) wouldn’t it be wearing Michigan tags? This leads me to believe that it is not a ‘Vette at all but possibly a prototype for the rumored “ATS-V+” since Caddy moved their HQ to Manhattan. That would explain the New York plates and strange exhausts and altered drivetrain. However, the timing is a bit off as the Frankenmule was spotted on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and Cadillac didn’t even announce their move to Manhattan until !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Well, maybe it could’ve been a prototype for a plain ole ATS-V? That really wouldn’t make sense either because why bother with this ridiculous bodywork when you’ve already shown of a very lightly camo’d ATS-V at the ‘ring !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? I thought maybe it could have been !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but that was 5 months after this mule was seen. Also, Autocheck.com shows that NY plate FXR 1219 is indeed registered to a 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco. This has turned into a rambling conspiracy theory, so I’m gonna say, all things considered and gooooood things hoped for, it’s an ATS-V+ with an LS7. Still doesn’t explain everything, but some of those panel gaps defy explanation entirely.

What if someone bought a salvage Malibu and did these modifications to it to confuse people on the internet?

Well there is a GM plant in New york that works on the Ecotec . maybe it’s just a 4cyl mule or some sorts for the ATS.. That would explain the Plates and everything..

As there aren’t any vents to suggest a mid-mounted motor, maybe it’s a powertrain mule for the new turbo 4 Camaro?

EDIT:

What if it is a powertrain mule for Cadillac’s new line of engines?

Man, I would not be suprised if it was just some guy hacking different cars together. Looks too messy to be a OE mule. Buuutt. You never know. I really want it to be something cool under there.

Pretty sure it’s one of those hideous cars from the Leepu & Pitbull car show.

Soon to be posted on Craigslist:

“90% completed Malibu to 458 conversion. I’d totally finish this but other projects are in the way. $200,000 invested, sacrifice at $100,000. Ran when parked.”

If it were a Corvette mule, it WOULDN’T have Corvette flags on it. I think they’re testing something completely unrelated and want to throw people off.

Pontiac has since passed; it is impolite to speak ill of the deceased.

If he is still alive, please make him stop. Why molest such outstanding GM products?

I would say that is outstanding in the way that a large growth on one’s face might be outstanding.

Some E2XX derivative most likely. E2LB perhaps (Buick LaCrosse). My guess is the rear end is 100% to throw everyone off, but it’s clearly a GM mule (not sure on the reason for the New York plate though, and the whole Cadillac theory moving to New York doesn’t make much sense because all engineering is, and will remain in, Michigan). The New York plate could be something as simple as to throw people off. I notice we always WANT it to be something cool, but trust me, it rarely is.

Also, all the powertrain mules for the ATS-V and CTS-V were, surprise, non-V ATS and CTS models.....
